Hi! I’m back again! And with an updated website!
Pretty much instantly after I posted the last blog post, I started working on updating the website. At first I really wanted to go to a nearby creek, take a photo of it, and use that as the background image for the main part of my website. As a filler image, I decided to use the picture that it’s currently set to of rain.
And, you know, the more I looked at the picture with the way it was cropped, the more I loved the way it looked on the website. One of my favorite things to do while it is raining is to take pictures out the window while having my camera focused on the rain drops. Let me tell you, this is not easy for me to do on a phone camera, so if it turns out well I usually have a little celebration to myself.
Once I finally chose to keep the image, I realized that I had to completely change most of my plans for the color scheme. I had originally settled on a brown color scheme out of the ones that the website gives me. (Look I just know how to make blog posts, I don’t really know how to edit most of the website.) Eventually, after scrolling through all of the color schemes available, I went for the dark color scheme. I love dark mode in the first place, whether it’s on my phone or on a website, so I felt that this was a good choice to make anyway.
Another thing that has changed is the tagline. I’ve never really known what to put here. I mean, sure, I could keep it blank, but that just seems boring. Before the update, it had been, “She exists… Sometimes…” which honestly just feels unnecessarily awkward and edgy. Eventually I changed it to, “Every day is a new adventure,” which is something I often tell myself in the mornings before I drag myself out of bed.
I also changed the quote! Previously it had been a Jenny Lawson quote. I changed it because to me it kind of felt like I was stealing the quote to pretend to be someone I’m not. I know that makes no sense but every time I saw it I felt more guilty. So, I changed it to a Lana Del Rey quote. Does it still feel like I’m stealing it somehow? Yes. Do I feel as guilty about it? Not quite! So that’s a win in my book!
Aside from the changes I’ve listed, I can’t think of many other things that have seriously changed on the website. All posts before my previous one have now been moved to a new category, Pre-2023, and the categories I had before have all been deleted. If I need more, I’ll make them.
I still don’t have any plans for how often I’m going to add posts, but as of right now I’m going to aim to update once or twice a month. Really, I want to update whenever something interesting happens in my life. I’m going to tentatively promise to come back and attempt to keep posting here, but nothing solid. That’s all I have for now!
